By women, for women

Build a space for women who love what you love

A place where women skip the prologue and go all in — without anyone being “the woman in the room”.

The topic is the point.

A running crew. A Tuesday chess night. A repair café. You are not there to talk about being a woman — you are there to run, to play, to fix the toaster. What the group takes away is the sizing-up: you are not the only woman in the room, and nobody is quietly working out whether you belong in it.

What you actually get

One setting makes it women-only. The rest is everything it takes to keep a group running.

  • Be found by the women you are for

Set up your women-only group for the topics you care about and scope it to your area, so interested women nearby can discover it. People it is not for will not see it at all.

  • Stop the trolls at the door

Everyone on gæther is already email-verified. You can raise the bar to phone-verified, review every request yourself, or make the group invite-only.

  • You can see who is actually coming

Your monthly hike, your first-Thursday supper: put each one in front of your members, in person or online, and see who is coming — instead of counting thumbs-ups in a thread.

  • It stays alive between gatherings

Posts, comments, polls and photos live with the group itself — not scattered across a bio link, a story and three chat threads.

Somewhere to become a regular

Your group on gæther is where women who love the same thing find each other, show up together — in person or online — and stay close between times.

A gæther group page for a women-only group — an upcoming gathering pinned above the group's feed. Example group, sample content.

gæther is new, and this is new on gæther. If you start the first women-only group where you are, you will be starting from zero people — your page will say so plainly, and so will we.

Your group, your door.

Set it up in a few minutes. Change who it is for whenever you like.

Questions organizers ask

Can men join a women-only group?
Not on their own. Someone who does not match what you have set cannot self-join. If they ask anyway, the request comes to you and the decision is yours.
What does gæther actually verify?
That a member is a real, reachable person. Everyone is email-verified, and your group can require members to be phone-verified on top of that — gæther does the checking, so the number itself never reaches you. ID verification is coming for the same purpose. What we do not verify is anyone’s gender, and we are not going to.
How do you know someone is a woman?
We do not, and we do not try. Gender on gæther is what a member says about themselves. So the boundary your group sets is stated publicly, applied in discovery, and — where someone does not match — left to you to decide rather than automated away. That is a weaker promise than “verified women.” It is also the true one, and the alternative has a track record we want no part of.
What if someone is not honest about it?
Then you have the same recourse any organizer has: you decide who stays. What we will not do is make a machine adjudicate it.
Do I have to give a reason?
Yes — we require one. You pick it from a short list rather than writing your own, and anyone who runs into the restriction sees it, so the boundary is explained rather than silent.
Can I make a group for women and non-binary people?
Yes — it is a multi-select, not a toggle.
Will my group show up on Google?
Only if you leave “Visible to search engines” on. That is your switch, and a women-only group is treated exactly like any other.
